Historical Significance
This coin was minted during the reign of Khusru II, one of the most influential rulers of the Sasanian Empire. His rule marked the height of Sasanian power, including major military campaigns against the Byzantine Empire and territorial expansion across the Near East.

The imagery on the coin reflects the deep connection between religion and monarchy. The Zoroastrian fire altar symbolizes eternal flame and divine presence, while the attendants represent ritual guardianship. These elements emphasize the king’s role as both a political and religious authority.

Sasanian drachms were widely circulated and known for their consistent silver content, making them a trusted currency in trade across Persia and neighboring regions. Coins like this played a key role in economic stability and long-distance commerce.

Today, these coins are valued not only for their silver content but also for their historical importance, artistic detail, and insight into one of the last great pre-Islamic Persian empires.

Condition (Very Fine)
Well-preserved with strong detail across both obverse and reverse. Visible wear on high points, but key features remain sharp and clearly defined, making this an attractive and collectible example.
