Extremely Fine

Tyrian Shekel

27mm, 13.1g

126 B.C - 67 A.D

Mint: Tyre

This a very unique and prestigious coin to own. This is a superbly preserved Tyre silver shekel in Extremely Fine (XF) condition—an iconic and deeply significant ancient coin. Struck in the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre between 126 BC and 66 AD, this is the very coin type historically identified as the infamous “30 pieces of silver” paid to Judas Iscariot for the betrayal of Jesus Christ, as recorded in the Gospels (Matthew 26:14–16).
